tawk.to core live chat is free with unlimited agents. AI Assist and branding removal are optional paid services. Replyze is not presented as the cheapest manual-chat alternative, and AI Assist credits are not always one credit per reply.

No equal-volume claim: check the model’s credits per reply, optional add-ons and applicable taxes. AI Assist also offers annual billing; the prices here use monthly subscriptions.

The short version

  1. 01

For manual chat, tawk.to advertises unlimited agents and chat volume at no software subscription charge. Replyze Free is limited to one seat and 100 manual chats/month.

  2. 02

AI Assist Growth starts at $29/month with 1,000 message credits. Credits consumed per answer depend on the selected model; the detailed credit guide currently lists three credits for an Auto-model reply.

  3. 03

Replyze Pro is $69 on monthly billing with five seats and 1,000 AI replies. Its workspace price is higher than the AI Assist Growth starting price, and the included units and functions differ.

  4. 04

Consider the knowledge sources, human escalation, appearance and team handling you need. A chatbot’s subscription price does not tell you whether it can answer your customer’s question or complete an account-specific task.

Which one fits

Neither tool is right for everyone

When we'd point you to each one.

Choose Replyze if…

  • You want a shared workspace with published articles, taught answers and a monthly allowance counted as replies.
  • Five or fifteen paid seats cover your team, and the supported Replyze channels fit the business.
  • You have tried the widget and handover with your own questions and prefer that daily working experience.

Choose tawk.to if…

  • Your priority is free manual chat with several teammates or high chat volume.
  • You want to try the lower-priced AI Assist Growth subscription and can monitor model-based credits.
  • Website crawling, configurable AI agents or API-connected tasks in AI Assist match work you need to keep.

What it costs

Compare the subscription and usage

For a team considering paid AI, compare the starting subscriptions below alongside the model settings and tasks you need. tawk.to’s Growth starting price is lower. Its message-credit quantity is not an equivalent Replyze reply allowance, and optional branding removal is a separate purchase rather than a required chat fee.

Illustrative customer conversation

AI first, your team when it matters

  • Answers from your own help articles

Publish your current service and policy information, then try the questions customers actually ask. Replyze uses those articles and taught answers; questions needing individual account access belong with your team.

  • A person when it matters

Visitors can tap “Talk to an agent” at any time, and topics your industry setup reserves for the team, such as refunds or complaints, go to a person. Your teammate sees the whole chat and replies in the same window.

  • Chat, email and messaging in one inbox

Web chat on every plan. Email, WhatsApp and Telegram on Pro and Business, with Messenger and Instagram in beta, all in one shared inbox.

Switching

Migrating from tawk.to, step by step

Switch when you're ready

  1. 1

Decide what is missing from the current setup

Write down the reason for trying an alternative: the inbox experience, the answers customers receive or how a request reaches a colleague. If free manual chat already covers the job, a paid migration may not be necessary.

  2. 2

Turn current answers into maintained articles

Bring useful FAQ content into Replyze, checking that the information is still correct. AI Assist prompts, crawled sources and API integrations do not import as Replyze configuration. Keep required historic chats accessible separately.

  3. 3

Try the handover with your team

Publish an answer, ask it in the widget and then request a person. Invite the colleague who will cover the inbox and verify the full thread is visible. Check the paid seat cap against everyone who needs access.

  4. 4

Replace the public widget after testing

Use the installation guide for your website platform and verify the published page on a phone. Keep the previous snippet available until the new route works. Removing a widget does not cancel an AI Assist or branding subscription; manage those deliberately.

FAQ

Questions about switching from tawk.to

Not covered here? Ask in the chat on this page. It's the real Replyze widget: the AI answers from our own help articles, and you can ask for a person at any time.

Its core live-chat software is advertised as free with unlimited agents and chat volume. Optional services such as AI Assist and branding removal have their own charges. Compare the free core with other manual-chat plans, and compare paid AI only when you need that additional capability.

Not necessarily. The detailed credit guide states that AI replies consume credits according to the selected model and currently lists three credits for Auto. Other AI features can share that credit pool. Check the model dropdown and recent usage instead of treating every credit as one answer.

That is not the claim here. tawk.to has free core chat and a lower published starting price for paid AI Assist Growth. Replyze may suit a team that prefers its included-reply workspace and daily inbox experience. Use your required functions and actual conversations to decide whether the different subscription is worthwhile.

There is no automatic import. Publish the answers you need in Replyze articles and plan human handling for tasks outside those articles. If an API integration currently retrieves data or performs an action, check its replacement separately; copying instructions does not transfer the connection.

What problem are you trying to solve with an alternative?

If the team already answers visitors successfully through free tawk.to chat, identify what you want to improve before paying for another workspace. It might be help with repeated questions, how colleagues share conversations or the way customers reach a person after an automated answer.

Choose a recent example such as “What should I bring to my appointment?” Publish the current preparation instructions and try the follow-up “I need to change my appointment.” This gives you a practical answer-and-handover test that fits the business rather than an abstract list of chat features.

Start with the customer question and team problem that make an alternative worth considering.

Before and after: add help for repeated questions

Before adding AI, a teammate may repeatedly paste the same preparation or opening-hours answer into tawk.to. Keep the helpful personal follow-up in that conversation; it may be the part the customer values most. Identify which factual answers can be maintained as published content.

After introducing Replyze, the assistant can use those articles and a person can continue an individual request in the same thread. AI Assist can also be considered for automated answers in the existing tawk.to setup. Compare both approaches before assuming that adding AI requires changing the whole live-chat tool.

How should you move information from crawled pages?

Read the pages an existing AI Assist setup uses and select the current answers customers actually need. Website navigation, old news and duplicate policies can sit beside useful information. Bring the relevant explanation into a focused Replyze article with its conditions and next-step link.

Assign someone to maintain that article when the business changes an offer or process. Replyze does not automatically inherit the tawk.to crawler or its refresh settings. A careful copy of the current policy is a starting point; keeping that answer accurate remains an ongoing content task.

Prepare maintained Replyze articles from useful source content without assuming crawler settings transfer.

Can the visitor reach your team when an answer is not enough?

Ask a question whose answer depends on the customer’s situation, then request a person. In each trial, check how the conversation is handed over and what the teammate receives. Use the actual paid AI configuration you are considering, including its escalation settings.

Have the colleague reply from the inbox and inspect the visitor’s view. The earlier AI explanation should help them continue without making the customer start again. Also decide what happens when no one is available: give a clear contact route and avoid implying that a personal request has already been approved.

When is free tawk.to the sensible choice?

Free manual chat can be enough when the team is available and the number or complexity of enquiries does not justify AI support. tawk.to’s unrestricted core agent count is useful for a business with several occasional responders. Include that option in the decision instead of comparing only paid plans.

If you do need automation, try AI Assist in the current setup as well as Replyze. A successful trial may show that keeping the existing inbox is simpler for your team. Choose Replyze when its supported functions and daily experience justify the change for your business.

How should you read the AI Assist credit counter?

Check the model selected for the AI agent and the credit cost displayed with it. The detailed credit guide explains that models can consume different amounts, so the label “message credits” does not by itself tell you how many answers remain. Other enabled AI features can also use the pool.

Try a few representative chats and inspect the usage information. For Replyze, count individual AI replies and any writing-tool use. Keep these calculations separate, then compare the relevant subscriptions. This avoids turning two similarly sized allowance numbers into a claim of equivalent customer capacity.

Inspect model-dependent credits and the features sharing the allowance before estimating capacity.

Which optional services belong in the price comparison?

List what the team actually wants to buy: manual chat, AI assistance, a particular appearance or a connected action. tawk.to offers optional add-ons, and removing branding is a separate choice. Do not add a service to its total merely to make another subscription appear cheaper.

For Replyze, choose the plan covering the required seats and channels. Compare monthly with monthly, or annual with annual, and check the final amount due. If the business is happy with the current widget branding, the fair estimate should reflect that preference.

How will occasional teammates use the new inbox?

Count everyone who may need to log in, including the owner, a receptionist and holiday cover. A move from unlimited core agents to a paid workspace with a seat cap changes that arrangement. Make sure each person who needs access fits the selected plan.

Ask an occasional responder to find and continue a trial conversation without coaching. They should be able to read the earlier messages and understand the pending request. Use an internal note where necessary and check how the team will avoid two people sending conflicting answers at the same time.

Include occasional users and backup cover when moving from unlimited core agents to a capped workspace.

What should you keep during the widget change?

Preserve the conversations and commitments your team needs under its retention policy. Replyze starts new threads and does not import the tawk.to archive. Assign outstanding enquiries before changing the customer’s usual contact route.

Keep the previous installation configuration available while you test the new public page on desktop and mobile. Check that only the intended widget is displayed. Manage optional AI Assist or branding subscriptions separately from removing the snippet, so the billing decision matches the services you plan to retain.

Treat records, website installation and optional subscriptions as separate parts of the move.

What would justify paying for Replyze?

Read the trial conversations with the people who answered them. Did the published articles cover the repeated questions? Could a person continue the individual request? Was the daily inbox comfortable for both regular and occasional responders? Keep specific examples of anything that remains unresolved.

Then compare the actual setup you would purchase with staying on free tawk.to or adding AI Assist. Replyze does not need to be the cheapest option to be useful, but the reason to choose it should be clear to your team. If the existing free service still does the job, keeping it is a valid outcome.
